To meet the demands of the process industry, Sterling SIHI offers completely dry running vacuum pumps. Dry running vacuum pumps are used increasingly throughout industry where there is a growing demand for uncontaminated vacuum, free from oil or service liquid, a requirement for low operating pressures, a flexibility required from batch processes, concern about storage and disposal costs of service liquids and the pressure to minimise life-cycle costs. The SIHIdry vacuum pump is a vertical twin-screw machine that is completely dry running and has no mechanical shaft seals. Moreover, the hermetically sealed unit has been developed specifically to meet these demands, while maintaining a simple, cost-effective solution.
The SIHIdry is based on a dry screw-spindle principle. The counter rotating screw shaped rotors, rotate without contact, eliminating the need for lubrication. Top down (self-draining), pumping is achieved by the top inlet and bottom discharge. Synchronization of the two rotors is done electronically, removing the need for mechanical gearing. The electrical control devices, including variable frequency drives (VFD) and microprocessor are factory mounted as a unit with the pump. For emergency conditions a set of non-lubricated, normally non-contacting (hence non-wearing), gears are provided to prevent rotor to rotor contact during emergency power or control outages.
SIHIdry Contains no oil lubrication or sealing fluids
Capable of low temperature dry compression to T4
Rugged cartridge bearings with no upper shaft bearing
Ductile iron shock pressure tested casing (225 psig)
Electronic drive synchronization and control
Fail safe gas purged motor casing for ultimate hazardous area duty
